Education and learning for all:
Basic Learning Needs satisfaction

Trends, issues, advances, challenges, strategies and recommendations in educating young people and adults

Literacy is a necessary starting point, but not enough, for every 21st century person to continue and to complement their lifelong learning and to exercise their rights as citizens (p. 11).
Nevertheless, each of the advances presents new and old challenges at the same time. The distance between what is foreseen in laws and policies and the effectively accomplished is still great, placing the need for a more participatory construction of policies and their social vigilance on the part of citizenship, in general, and on the part, specifically, of the subjects of Adult Education (p. 12).
